Friends, Alumni and Students,
We hope you have made plans to join us this year for graduation! Our banquet begins on Friday evening, May 27 at 5:45. Please RSVP your dinner reservations to seminary@okcbaptistchurch.com if you haven’t already done so. During the banquet, we will give an update on the school year and the educational building God has blessed us with. We have begun renovations on the dorm but we are waiting on permits to complete the work. Pray with us regarding the permits and the funds necessary to finish to do the renovation and become ADA compliant. Our big need is for a sprinkler system and an elevator. We will be taking a special offering during graduation to help with these needs. Please pray for our offering and give as the Lord leads. Please visit the following link to see a video of our new educational building: https://youtu.be/DwXNCPEFMiY
The graduation service immediately follows our banquet and will begin at 7 pm. We have two graduates this year, both from our undergraduate program. Matt Keller is a mission major. He and his family spent this semester in Italy, doing his internship with the Clifford Keister family. Matt and Andrea had the opportunity to help the Keisters. Matt was able to preach in Italian and they helped with music and soulwinning. They also had the opportunity to visit several cities of over 100,000 people; cities with no gospel witness. Pray for them as they work at the church this summer and start deputation in the fall. Jeshua Carter is also graduating as a missions major. Jeshua and his wife Kiska are planning to go to Portugal after he completes his Graduate studies in Counseling.
In addition to Pastor Rick Carter Jr., we also had Pastor Dustin Isom teaching Children’s Ministries, Pastor Josh Carter (Personal Spiritual Development) and and Pastor Eric Johnson (New Testament Survey). we are so thankful for their ministries. This semester we increased from two evenings a week to three evenings a week. The number of students in our graduate program continues to increase.
One other piece of good news, we have a potential great opportunity. A nursing home facility, next to our church building is being sold. They have reached out to us to see if we would like to purchase the facility which has 42 rooms: a kitchen, and fellowship or chapel areas as well as living quarters. This could potentially provide great housing for our seminary students, some staff housing and also space for those graduating from Victory Ranch and entering the aftercare program. The building is divided into 3 areas of housing. We have made an offer and are waiting on their response.. If it’s God’s will, we would love to go forward. If it is not His will, then it is not our will either. Pray for God’s will.
